Launceston Church Grammar School is an Anglican co-educational day and boarding community where global learners and leaders are nurtured, challenged and inspired to serve and shape the world with courage, curiosity, creativity and compassion.

Founded in 1846, the School is Australia’s oldest continually running independent school and welcomes students from Early Learning to Grade 12. Set in the safe, clean and picturesque City of Launceston, the School is a 45-minute flight from Melbourne, to which the majorities of students proceed for university where they study at Melbourne University or Monash University.

For over 172 years, Grammar has given the gift of outstanding young leaders to this city and this nation. There are few other schools in Australia who have nurtured seventeen Rhode Scholars, five premiers, three Anglican bishops, innumerable industry leaders, prominent artists, authors, musicians and scientists.

Boarding is located in the heart of the School’s Senior Campus and is open to students in Grade 5 to Grade 12. There are two separate Boarding Houses, one for girls and another for boys, with each containing study spaces, lounge areas and student kitchens. Boys and girls share communal recreational areas and dining facilities where they are provided with healthy meals.

After school, students are able to easily participate in a large number of sports and activities as well as accessing academic tutoring in the School’s Library. Of an evening, boarders also benefit from dedicated time to complete homework with the supervision and support of boarding staff.
