《iET Facebook 英語學堂》 第23周 : Cross

近日大專院校的民主墻標語鬧得滿城風雨，有人認爲學生濫用言論自由，沒有惻隱之心；有人認爲這顯示了學生的不滿到達臨界點，當權者應知道冰封三尺，非一日之寒。

iET藉此介紹大家靈活運用一個熟悉不過的字 —— “Cross”。小時候老師教“cross the road”，作動詞用，解「橫過」；測驗答錯題目，老師打一個「X」，也是“Cross”；耶穌被釘上的十字架，又是“cross”,作名詞用。除了這些，“Cross”亦有其他意思：

1. 越過:   
   Once you cross the boundary of freedom of speech, you are abusing it.
   一旦越過了言論自由的界綫，便會變成濫用言論自由。
   
   
2. 生氣/不滿：
   Students are cross with the school’s recent tighter policy on the use of the student common room.
   學生不滿學校最近對使用休息室實施更嚴厲的政策。
