香港人喜歡打邊爐，「打邊爐」英文是“hot pot”。去探訪澳洲寄宿學校時，連舍監都知道香港學生鍾意 hot pot，滾水「烚下烚下」。咁如果有日舍監同你講：“You landed yourself in hot water.”即係咩意思呢？

“in hot water”意思是遇到麻煩或蒙羞，或做了錯事惹人生氣。

例子1：

He got into hot water for cheating in the exam. （他考試出貓，處境不妙了。）

例子2：

Brother: I broke mom’s crystal vase. （我打爛了媽媽的水晶花瓶。）

Sister: It’s her favorite. You’re in hot water. Good luck. （那是她的最愛，你「大鑊」了。祝你好運。）
